Why Do Rolex watches have the number 4 symbol on the watch dial a Roman numeral IIII instead of IV?
Rolex uses the common symbol IX for the number 9 so what's the deal with the number 4?
The four-character form IIII creates a visual symmetry with the VIII on the other side, which IV would not.
Either IIII or IV is acceptable for 4, so I guess the "eyes" have it.
